Used Liebherr Transmission

A leaking travel reducer on an R934 excavator, a clunking axle on an L556 loader: on a Liebherr machine, every transmission component works under heavy load. Codimatra dismantles selected Liebherr machines and stocks their original transmission parts, tested in our workshop before shipping: travel reducers, wheel reducers, driveline shafts, hubs, and gearboxes. You save time compared to manufacturer lead times and keep control of your budget.

Liebherr Transmission: Hydrostatic, XPower, and Reducers

Liebherr stands out with its hydrostatic transmissions. On wheel loaders, a hydraulic motor drives the axles without a conventional gearbox. Larger models such as the L550 to L580 XPower add a mechanical branch: this is the power split transmission, designed for longer operating cycles and extended loading distances. On tracked excavators, each track is driven by a hydraulic motor and a travel reducer. On wheeled excavators, a gearbox and axles transmit power to the wheels. For these construction machines, the original machine's hours in operation weigh as much as the model itself when choosing a replacement part.

Available Liebherr Transmission Parts

  • Excavators: travel reducers, swing reducers, and slewing rings.
  • Axles: wheel reducers, wheel hubs, spindles, axle noses, and trumpet housings.
  • Driveline: drive shafts, axle shafts, and transfer boxes.
  • Gearboxes: gearboxes for wheeled excavators and loaders.
  • Braking: calipers, subject to availability.

Compact Liebherr Excavators R934 and L556 Loaders - Used Parts

Our stock covers Liebherr tracked excavators from R914 to R974C, including R934B, R934C, R944C, and R954C models. It also includes wheeled excavators from A308 to A934, in compact and Litronic versions, such as the A912 Compact. For Liebherr wheel loaders, coverage ranges from the L506 Stereo to the L580, including L538, L550, and L556 XPower models. The LH22M material handler completes the offer. If your model is not listed here, contact us: new machines regularly arrive for dismantling, and every used part remains linked to its original machine.

Identifying the Correct Liebherr Transmission Part

  • Machine: model, version (Litronic, HD, compact), and serial number.
  • Liebherr reference found on the component's nameplate.
  • Side for travel reducers: left or right.
  • Axle position: front or rear, oscillating or fixed axle.
  • Photos of the part installed and its hydraulic connections.

Replacing a Liebherr Travel Reducer: Best Practices

A leaking travel reducer often ran with low oil levels: check the hydraulic travel motor driving it before reinstalling the used part. Clean the sealing surfaces, inspect the sprocket, and fill the reducer with the oil recommended by Liebherr. For a loader, apply the same checks to the axle and gearbox: a component mounted on a worn driveline wears out faster. These inspections take little time and protect your investment.

Liebherr Drive Shafts: Inspection Points

  • Universal joints: no play or stiffness.
  • Splines: even wear, no hammer marks.
  • Length between flanges and type of attachment, depending on the model.
  • Balancing: no missing weights or deformed tubes.
  • Gearbox and axle: check output flanges before fitting the drive shaft.

Used Liebherr Transmissions in France: Thoroughly Tested Reducers

For over 40 years, Codimatra has been selecting the machines it dismantles and inspects every component in its workshop before offering it for sale. With around 17,000 references in stock, our roadwork specialists verify compatibility with your serial number. For reducers, the inspection focuses on sealing, play, and the condition of the drained oil. Most Liebherr wheel loaders use a hydrostatic transmission: an engine-driven pump powers a hydraulic motor connected to the axles. XPower models, like the L550 to L580, combine this hydrostatic branch with a mechanical branch to reduce consumption over long distances.

Common signs include oil leakage at the floating seal, bearing noise, abnormal overheating, or one track moving slower than the other. Check the oil level and condition, then send us the reducer's reference code.

At Codimatra, located in Castelculier near Agen, you will find original used Liebherr parts dismantled from excavators and loaders: drive shafts, reducers, axles, and gearboxes. Each used part is workshop-tested and shipped throughout France and internationally. Check the stock above or request a quote.

Not always. Depending on the machine, the left and right reducers may have different references or the same reference installed as mirror images. Record the reference on the reducer's nameplate to be replaced and specify the side: our technicians verify compatibility before shipping.
