Used Excavator and Construction Machinery Toolbox
82 produits disponibles
Dented lids, forced locks after an open weekend on the construction site, seals that let water onto batteries: a damaged toolbox doesn’t stop the machine from working but exposes what it’s meant to protect. We recover these toolboxes from dismantled excavators, loaders, and wheeled excavators at Castelculier, then check their locks before offering them. Codimatra has been selling used spare parts for construction equipment for over 40 years.

Toolbox and Battery Box on an Excavator
On an excavator or loader, the toolbox is integrated into the machine. Depending on the model, it stores onboard tools, grease pumps, and documents, or houses batteries and the fuse box. This built-in jobsite toolbox travels with the machine from site to site: there’s no need to unload a separate box each evening.
Its security is as important as its storage capacity. An original lock, intact hinges, and solid sheet metal make break-ins more difficult and enhance security for unattended worksites.

Between Cab and Hood: Locating the Toolbox
On an excavator, the toolbox is often located between the cab and the hood, on the turret side. On a loader, it’s usually mounted on the rear chassis or above a fender. Note the external dimensions, the spacing of the mountings, and the direction the lid opens: a lid opening toward the cab has different hinges than one opening outward. The model, serial number, and a photo of the location are enough for us to identify the part.
What’s Stored in an Excavator Toolbox
- Onboard tools: keys, grease pump, rags, gloves
- Machine documents and maintenance logbook
- Batteries, in a ventilated compartment sealed with a gasket
- Small wear parts: bucket teeth, pins, cotter pins
Lock, Seal, Hinges: Our Checks
Before sale, each toolbox is opened and closed multiple times: the lid must be flat and close firmly. The workshop verifies that the lock works, with or without keys depending on the part, that the rubber seal on battery boxes is present for a watertight closure, and that mounting brackets show no cracks or penetrating corrosion.
Get a Toolbox Suited to Your Excavator
- Brand, model, and serial number of your machine
- Photo of the toolbox location and its mountings
- Toolbox function: tools or batteries
Our advisors compare your information with our approximately 17,000 references and respond to you at 05 18 23 21 34. Parts ship all over France. To secure other access points on your machine, see compartment doors and our full range of used construction body parts.
The lock is present on most toolboxes, but the key is much less common. Plan to have a key duplicated or the cylinder replaced upon receipt. The exact composition of each toolbox is indicated on its datasheet or specified by our advisors before ordering.
Excavators are categorized as mini-excavators, weighing less than about 6 tons; tracked excavators, stable on soft terrain; and wheeled excavators, more mobile on roads and in cities. There are also short-radius excavators designed to work alongside tracks. All have one or more toolboxes, whose location varies by manufacturer.
Start with an original lock in good condition and a lid that closes tightly—a deformed toolbox can be forced open in seconds. Remove valuable tools before a weekend, park the machine with the toolbox against a wall when possible, and replace any already damaged lids without delay.
