What is the role of an articulation cylinder?

The articulating cylinder allows the machine to rotate. Our construction machines are large sizes and weights, which is why steering with a single engine is not conceivable. The steering cylinders are therefore the perfect alternative to turn our loaders or our graders. The two cylinders are fed at a constant flow rate and are linked together by a distributor which will manage the distribution of useful oil in each of the cylinders. These parts are subjected to very strong resistance due to the nature of the soil and the types of work carried out.

When to change your articulating cylinder?

One of the most common causes of failure of these articulation cylinders is oil leakage. This is usually caused by a degradation of the cylinder rod due to foreign bodies that come into contact with the seals. It is therefore important to properly lubricate the steering cylinders, and to carry out a regular visual inspection.
