Used Work Lights and Construction Equipment Lighting

36 produits disponibles

A work light broken by a branch, a torn rear light, or a bent bracket can compromise safety during night or winter work. Work lights, signals, and beacons are removed from excavators, loaders, dump trucks, and telehandlers in the Codimatra workshop in Castelculier, where they are tested under power before sale. For over 40 years, we have supplied public works professionals with original used spare parts.

Work lights, signals, and beacons: the role of construction equipment lighting

Lighting on construction machinery serves two purposes. Work lighting illuminates the work area around the machine, with work lights mounted on the cab, boom, or hood: it ensures good visibility in low light conditions, at dawn, in winter, or under structures. Signaling makes the machine visible to others: front light, rear light, indicators, and beacon. On wheeled excavators and loaders traveling on roads, these lights are essential.

All connect to the wiring harness and fuse boxes, along with the cab interior lighting. On construction vehicles, a non-functioning work light slows the entire site as soon as light fades.

Used work lights and signals for Caterpillar, Volvo, Liebherr

  • Caterpillar: dump trucks 769C, 769D and 770, loaders 963B and 950K, excavators 320D and 325D, telehandler TH220B
  • Volvo: dump trucks A25D and A30G, loader L150F
  • Liebherr: excavator R926
  • Komatsu and New Holland: excavators PC228US-11 and W190B, loader WA500-3
  • Backhoe loaders, compactors, or bulldozers: inquiry-based search among dismantled machines

Powerful LED work lights or halogen work lamps

On recent machinery, LED work lights gradually replace traditional halogen bulb work lamps. They consume less energy, generate less heat, and have a much longer lifespan with no bulbs to change. A powerful LED work light delivers strong, white light closer to daylight, reducing operator eye strain. Halogen lamps still have two advantages: lower replacement costs and possible repair by replacing just the bulb.

The choice also depends on the beam. A wide beam lights the area around the machine for maneuvering, a focused beam projects farther ahead for forward work. The orange beacon and reversing lights complete the safety lighting from excavators to bulldozers and handling equipment.

IP67, IP68 waterproof ratings and vibration resistance

  • An IP67 or IP68 rating protects the light from dust and water, including high-pressure washing
  • Vibration resistance determines lifespan on excavators or bulldozers
  • An aluminum housing dissipates LED heat more effectively
  • Original mounts absorb shocks better than makeshift fittings

LED work lights 12V or 24V: check before ordering

Compare voltage, 12 V or 24 V depending on the machine, halogen or LED technology, connectors, and mounting brackets. Most large excavators, loaders, and dump trucks run on 24 V; some mini excavators and backhoe loaders use 12 V: always verify on the battery. An original light fits exactly the mount designed on the cab or boom, without modification. Note the reference on the light housing and your machine model. For a beacon, also note the base type: magnetic, stem, or bolted plate.

Rectangular or round LED work lights: shape matters

  • Rectangular: wide beam, often mounted in a row on the cab roof to illuminate large areas
  • Round: compact size, common on booms, mirrors, or fenders
  • Mounting bracket: ball joint, clamp, or central foot; must match existing drilled holes
  • Dimensions: compare width, height, and depth with the old light before ordering

What the workshop checks on a work light

Before stocking, each work light is powered on and tested. The workshop inspects the optics for cracks or leaks, cleanliness of the reflector, condition of the bracket and ball joint, and the connector and cable condition. A light with questionable waterproofing is not put up for sale: washed with a pressure washer, water would eventually get in.

Finding the right light for your machine

  • Brand, model, and serial number of your machine
  • Light position: cab, boom, hood, or rear
  • Reference number on the housing, if readable
  • Photo of the light and its mounting bracket

No: the light's voltage must match the machine's electrical circuit. A 24 V light connected to 12 V barely lights up, and the reverse quickly damages the light. Always check the label on the light housing or the battery before ordering.

An LED work light costs more upfront than a halogen lamp, and a faulty LED often requires replacing the entire unit. On some machines, its low current draw can also interfere with the dashboard's blown bulb detection. Nevertheless, LED work lights remain more economical and durable.

Xenon produces light by an electric arc in a gas-filled bulb: very bright but requires a ballast and takes a few seconds to reach full brightness. LEDs light instantly, consume less, and withstand vibrations better. On construction machinery, LEDs have largely replaced xenon for work lights.

Yes, every lighting component is tested in the workshop before being stocked and is identified with the machine it came from. This way, you know the model it was mounted on, which helps verify compatibility with your equipment.
