What is the role of an idler?

A idler is independent from an axle, it can rotate freely. It is an important organ for our track machines. We find it on our excavators, loader or bulldozers. Using a tension spring, the idler keeps a constantly tensioned track to improve the traction of our construction machine. There are all sizes with more or fewer steps.

When to change your idler?

The two most frequent cases are:

• When the idler has too much play
• When there are signs of weakness like a crack for example.
