Mini Excavator Dashboard: Role and Components

On a mini excavator, the dashboard consolidates the hour meter, fuel gauge, coolant temperature, and warning lights for load, oil pressure, and preheating. The hour meter serves as a reference to schedule maintenance for the mini excavator. Depending on the model, buttons also control lighting, windshield wipers, or the auxiliary hydraulic circuit, alongside joysticks that operate the boom, dipper arm, bucket, and turret rotation.

Mini Excavator Dashboard Warning Light: What to Do?

A warning light lighting up on a mini excavator first indicates a fault on the machine: oil pressure, overheating, battery charge, filter clogging, or hydraulic circuit anomaly. Stop the diesel engine and have the fault diagnosed before any replacement. The dashboard itself is the culprit when the display remains black, the hour meter is frozen, or several warning lights light up without reason, often after a short circuit. Also check the wiring harness and fuse boxes.
