What is the function of a hydraulic excavator?

A hydraulic excavator digs, loads, and moves materials using work equipment consisting of a boom, stick, and bucket, operated by cylinders. The turret swivels on the chassis, and the tracks or wheels provide movement. With the right attachment, it can also be used for demolition, sorting, or handling.

Is Liebherr a reputable brand?

Liebherr is a well-known manufacturer in construction equipment, especially for hydraulic excavators and wheel loaders. Across all machine types, the brand designs some of its own components, including pumps, hydraulic motors, and cylinders. For used parts, this in-house design makes it easier to find by reference, even for older wheel loaders.

What is the lifespan of a Liebherr excavator?

Lifespan largely depends on operating hours, worksite conditions, and maintenance. A well-maintained machine lasts long, provided wear parts such as pumps, travel motors, swivel joints, and undercarriage components are replaced timely. Original used parts help extend machine life without costly full replacements.

Who owns the Liebherr Group?

The Liebherr Group is a family-owned company, founded in 1949 by Hans Liebherr. It remains owned by the Liebherr family, with its holding company, Liebherr-International AG, based in Bulle, Switzerland. The group covers construction machinery, cranes, components, and other industrial activities.

Should Liebherr hydraulic oil be changed after replacing a pump?

Yes, in most cases. After a pump failure, Liebherr hydraulic oil may contain particles that could damage the replacement part. Drain and flush the circuit, replace filters, and use the oil type recommended for your machine.

How can you tell if a Liebherr hydraulic pump is worn?

Common signs include slower movements, loss of digging power, rapidly heating oil, or cavitation noises. Have your mechanic measure pressure and flow, then send us the reference number found on the pump.
