Liebherr Hydraulic Excavator: Hydraulic Circuit Overview

On Liebherr excavators, the combustion engine drives one or more variable displacement pumps. The valve then distributes the flow from these pumps to the work equipment cylinders and the travel and swing hydraulic motors. The equipment operates in an open circuit, while some travel and hydrostatic transmissions run in a closed circuit. A secondary pump often supplies steering or control functions depending on the machine. The oil cooler keeps the system at the correct temperature.
