What is the function of the hydraulic pump?

The hydraulic pump, driven by the engine, draws oil from the reservoir and delivers it to the circuit. It creates flow, and pressure arises from the resistance of cylinders and hydraulic motors. Without it, no equipment movement, rotation or travel is possible.

What are the three types of hydraulic pumps?

The main types are gear pumps, simple and robust; vane pumps; and piston pumps, axial or radial. On Liebherr excavators and loaders, main pumps are variable displacement axial piston pumps, while auxiliary pumps are often gear type.

How can you tell if a hydraulic pump is defective?

A defective pump no longer delivers sufficient flow: very slow or no movement, metallic or cavitation noise, oil overheating and metal particles in filters. Only flow and pressure testing by your mechanic confirms the diagnosis. Then send us the nameplate reference.

What is the price of a hydraulic pump?

The price depends on pump type, displacement and machine: a main pump for a large excavator is priced differently than a steering pump. At Codimatra, the current price is listed on each product page or by quote, including transport cost.

Can a Liebherr pump fit a different model?

Sometimes when two machines share the same pump and Liebherr ID number. Compatibility is verified on the pump nameplate and machine serial number, never by model name alone. Our technicians confirm compatibility before shipping.
