What is the function of a hydraulic distributor?

The hydraulic distributor is the control block of the circuit: it receives pressurized oil from the pump and distributes it to actuators, cylinders, and hydraulic motors according to the operator’s commands. On a Caterpillar construction machine, it also regulates the flow of each function and protects the circuit thanks to its pressure relief valves.

How can I tell if a Caterpillar hydraulic distributor is worn?

Common signs include a function drifting with the engine off, jerky movement starts, oil warming up despite normal pump flow, or an external leak at a spool. If only one function is affected, the spool or valve of that section is the prime suspect.

Can a Caterpillar hydraulic distributor be repaired?

A hydraulic specialist can replace spool seals or a defective valve. When the bore or spool itself is scored, a repair becomes costly and time-consuming: a used original distributor with the same reference is often the fastest solution. Codimatra supplies the part; the repair is up to your hydraulic technician.
