KOMATSU Machine Compatibility and References
Specific manufacturer references determine the exact compatibility of alternators for each KOMATSU model. The PC series includes different amperage variants: 40A for PC50, 60A for PC210-7 with reference 600-861-6410, and mini excavators PC05-7 to PC15R-8 use reference 129150-77202.
The backhoe loaders WB93R-2 and WB97R-5 share the same electrical specifications as their S series counterparts. Each alternator has a unique identification number engraved on the housing to facilitate identification during replacement.
Our products come with a manufacturer warranty, and our technical team is available Monday to Friday to assist you in choosing the right reference for your machine.
KOMATSU Alternator Installation and Maintenance
- Disconnect the battery before working on the alternator to prevent electrical short circuits.
- Check the condition of the alternator belt: proper tension and no visible cracks.
- Ensure electrical terminal tightening torque is between 8 and 12 Nm depending on the model.
- Clean connections with a wire brush to remove oxidation and ensure conductivity.
- Test output voltage: 13.8 to 14.4 volts with the engine running for a 12V system.
- Replace carbon brushes when their thickness is less than 5 mm.
- Perform a 50-hour break-in after installing a new reconditioned alternator.
To identify your KOMATSU alternator, look for the original label affixed directly on the alternator which indicates the manufacturer reference. You can also consult your equipment manual or check your machine's data plate specifying the exact model (PC50, PC200, WA320, etc.) to determine the compatible reference.
KOMATSU alternators fit many equipment series including mini excavators PC03, PC05, PC07, PC12R, PC15, PC20, PC27, PC30, PC35, PC40, PC45, PC50, PC75, backhoe loaders WB93, WB97, wheel loaders FD20, FD30, and compact loaders SK07J. Each model requires a specific alternator based on its engine and manufacturing year.
The main difference lies in the output voltage: a 12V alternator delivers about 14V in operation to charge 12V batteries, while a 24V alternator produces around 28V to power 24V systems. Light construction machinery typically uses 12V, whereas heavier machines require 24V for more powerful electrical components such as starters and lighting.
To diagnose a faulty KOMATSU alternator, use a multimeter set to voltmeter mode on the battery terminals: with the engine off, voltage should read 12.4 to 12.6V, then 13.8 to 14.4V at idle with the engine running. A reading below 13.2V indicates the alternator is failing to charge the battery properly.
Reconditioned KOMATSU alternators typically come with a 12 to 24-month warranty depending on the supplier and the level of refurbishment performed. This coverage includes replacement of defective components and protects against manufacturing defects, with the possibility of exchange in case of failure during the warranty period.
