The chain dozer, more commonly known as a bulldozer, is basically the evolution of an agricultural chain tractor fitted with a push blade. Bulldozers are used for earthmoving, levelling, dozing and embankment operations.

The bulldozer: the most essential earthmoving machine with blade

The main function of a bulldozer is to push to clear and dig, which is why it is fitted with an imposing blade at the front. It's a sturdy, efficient machine that works day after day on muddy, difficult terrain, thanks to its caterpillar tracks. It's the best equipment for pushing demolition debris, for example.

Ranging in power from 90 to over 900 hp for the largest, with 4 or 6-cylinder diesel or even V8 engines, the bulldozer, thanks to its chain drive, is capable of working on all types of terrain: rocky if narrow, loose or marshy if equipped with an LGP© chain drive, then referred to as a low ground pressure chain drive.

Equipped with a Powershift© gearbox, the bulldozer is capable of maneuvering just as fast in forward as in reverse, enhancing productivity. With no steering wheel, the steering wheel is placed in the center of the chassis, and steering maneuvers are performed via joysticks connected to the hydraulic distributor.

The bulldozer: a wide range of applications

Working in difficult conditions, some manufacturers have designed raised travel gearboxes to protect the sprockets and ensure mechanical cleaning of the rollers. The bulldozer's blade generally pushes materials, but it also has other applications.

In some applications, the bulldozer is used as an auxiliary pusher, notably behind scrapers. For waste processing applications, special shields and grilles protect the coolant circuit radiator, exhaust pipe and transmission.
