What are the functions of an aerial work platform?

The nacelle, or platform lift, can be used to elevate personnel so that they can work at height more easily. That's why they're often found in large storage areas, but also on construction sites where loads need to be lifted to heights. It folds and unfolds at the touch of a button by the operator. For information, it depends on the model, but each nacelle can support a minimum of 2 people. The cherry picker belongs to the family of lifting devices.

Different types of aerial work platforms

Aerial work platforms can be self-propelled to enable them to move around. Some are not limited to vertical movement (pods with vertical masts), and can be multidirectional. The maximum height depends on the model, but it is estimated that a cherry picker can reach up to 40 meters and support a minimum of 150 kilos and a maximum of 700 kilos for the strongest cherry pickers. There are articulated, telescopic, scissor and spider aerial platforms. They are also known as PEMP, which stands for Plateformes Elevatrices Mobiles de Personnes.

The most famous brands of aerial work platforms

The brands of aerial work platforms are quite different from those of construction equipment. First and foremost is Haulotte, the world leader in lifting equipment. Another brand (also known for its telescopic forklifts), Manitou, also manufactures articulated aerial work platforms powered by Kubota or Lombardini engines.
