Powertrain : the most important part of mobility !
It is a part of the kinematic chain that connects the whole engine, gearbox, axles and final drives. The transmission can transform the engine energy power in the machine speed.
More…On articulated Volvo A25D dumper, the Powershift transmission, the gear shift is operated under load. There 's no change in engine speed during the upshift ensuring the best possible traction whatever the payload of the machine and the ground type.
These gearboxes are manufactured by Allison or Caterpillar or even ZF, and are elaborate mechanisms.

These are components of modern transmission.
Connected to the gearbox by the driveshaft, axles ensure the ground contact, support the weight of the machine and transmit the movement from wheels to the gearbox.
The brakes are protected by the pebbles from mud and dust thrown up by the tires.
Finally the wheel drive can multiply and distribute the driving force in the wheels.
But do the track machines have the same design? Yes and no, the dozers have mostly an automatic transmission, but track loaders have hydrostatic transmissions that is to say, a hydraulic motor transmitting motion. This kind of transmission is also used on compact wheel excavators and loaders. Again there may be a final drive coupled with a hydraulic motor as in the case of track excavators.
An external oil leak, a track that is driven faster than the other one may result in an internal leak, the inability to shift into reverse gear, all of those signs can be because of broken transmission.
