Caterpillar 775B Rigid Dumper in CODIMATRA

CODIMATRA hosts a rigid dumper today. The 775B is a dumper of 60 tons with a 40m3 bucket. A powerful machine for better productivity. Our Caterpillar 775B dumper will soon be dismantled by us. After a thorough cleaning, his organs will be tested and reconditioned as necessary, in our workshops.

The 775B: a 660 power horse dumper with a 40m3 bucket!

The rigid dumper is a transport equipment used on construction site passable roads (unlike his counterpart, articulated dumper). Indeed, rigid dumper has a lower crossing capacity, due to its 4x2 transmission, but instead its big advantage is its robustness and especially its large payload capacity. The range of dumper begins at 32 tons to 350 tons of payload for the most impressive. Only dumpers from 32 to 100 tons are used in France for reasons of adaptation to existing operations.

Our Caterpillar 775B belongs to the 60 tons’ category. With such weight, only an engine as the TA 3412 developing 660 power horse can move the machine. The 775B was at the forefront of technology in 1992 and had many strengths. The former owner needed a dumper adapt to quarry job, which is why we find many reinforcements at the bucket flat bottom.

Two months ago we had received a Caterpillar 375 LME excavator, the ideal partner for our new dumper. With a 5400 liters’mass excavation bucket reinforced, the 375 LME is completely adapted to work in quarry and can quickly fill the 40m3 of the 775B’s dump.

A complex unloading for the 775B!

The unloading of this rigid dumper was complex. The motor is no longer operational and the back hydraulic brakes blocked. CODIMATRA’s teams had to use a 60 tons’ strength PPM wheel crane (PotainPoclain Handling) to raise the 775B and to drive down of the flat bed truck. A difficult operation carried out by our experts of deconstruction.

Indeed, the engine of this monster was acting up. This is what has forced its former owner to part with. Codimatra’s motorist experts will refurbish its V-12 660 horse power in the coming weeks. The engine is not starting anymore; it was almost impossible to get off of our 3 axles plus 1 two-seat tank carrier. In addition, the hydraulic system was purged for travel in special convoy. After a morning of trial by Codimatra’s experts, impossible to re-pressure the hydraulic system of rigid dumper. The truck was thus completely immobilized on the tank carrier, preventing the conveyor to go away with his truck. The Codimatra’s specialists took matters in hand and moved the 60 tons of the 775B away with a crane (PPM) to lift the rear and a powerful excavator to pull. This ingenious technic, was the only viable way out of the tank carrier. Today our 775B is parked next to his partner the 375 LME expecting both a deconstruction by Codimatra’s teams.

The 775B ancestor of the latest of Caterpillar: the 775G

The latest Caterpillar is a construction site dumper. The 775G is a like a new reference in term of performance while meeting carbon footprint standards.

Indeed, despite its gigantic C27 ACERT engine block developing 780 horse power, Caterpillar handily pass US certification of emission: Tier 4. Only Caterpillar does not stop there. Well having the same name as the previous model engine, the actual one offers a power increase of 5% and higher torque. The engine was entirely revisited to reduce vibration, noise and wear. The G Series has introduced new planetary transmission controls powershift called APECS. This transmission offers a flexible and smoothly passage of reports for a driving quality ever seen on this type of gear. The models in the G series also brings significant improvements in terms of maintenance. Indeed, an easy access saves time for the operator.

In addition to be a machine made for productivity, Caterpillar is committed to reduce its carbon footprint with genuine fuel saving strategy.

Standard economy mode

  • The engine power depends on the needs.
  • Reduces power 775G 0.15% to 15%.

Adaptive economy mode

  • fully automatic functionality. The operator has nothing to manage.
  • Significant decrease of fuel with reduced power.

Speed limit:

  • Using the best ratio to provide optimum energy efficiency.

Engine Idle Shutdown

  • A start & stop on a rigid dumper. Beyond a preset time by the operator, the machine stops the engine to save fuel.
