The 775B: a 660 power horse dumper with a 40m3 bucket!

The rigid dumper is a transport equipment used on construction site passable roads (unlike his counterpart, articulated dumper). Two months ago we had received a Caterpillar 375 LME excavator, the ideal partner for our new dumper. With a 5400 liters’mass excavation bucket reinforced, the 375 LME is completely adapted to work in quarry and can quickly fill the 40m3 of the 775B’s dump.

A complex unloading for the 775B!

The unloading of this rigid dumper was complex. The motor is no longer operational and the back hydraulic brakes blocked. CODIMATRA’s teams had to use a 60 tons’ strength PPM wheel crane (PotainPoclain Handling) to raise the 775B and to drive down of the flat bed truck. A difficult operation carried out by our experts of deconstruction.

Indeed, the engine of this monster was acting up. This is what has forced its former owner to part with. Codimatra’s motorist experts will refurbish its V-12 660 horse power in the coming weeks. The engine is not starting anymore; it was almost impossible to get off of our 3 axles plus 1 two-seat tank carrier. In addition, the hydraulic system was purged for travel in special convoy. After a morning of trial by Codimatra’s experts, impossible to re-pressure the hydraulic system of rigid dumper. The truck was thus completely immobilized on the tank carrier, preventing the conveyor to go away with his truck. The Codimatra’s specialists took matters in hand and moved the 60 tons of the 775B away with a crane (PPM) to lift the rear and a powerful excavator to pull. This ingenious technic, was the only viable way out of the tank carrier. Today our 775B is parked next to his partner the 375 LME expecting both a deconstruction by Codimatra’s teams.

 

The 775B ancestor of the latest of Caterpillar: the 775G

The latest Caterpillar is a construction site dumper. The 775G is a like a new reference in term of performance while meeting carbon footprint standards.

Indeed, despite its gigantic C27 ACERT engine block developing 780 horse power, Caterpillar handily pass US certification of emission: Tier 4. Only Caterpillar does not stop there. Well having the same name as the previous model engine, the actual one offers a power increase of 5% and higher torque. The engine was entirely revisited to reduce vibration, noise and wear. The G Series has introduced new planetary transmission controls powershift called APECS. This transmission offers a flexible and smoothly passage of reports for a driving quality ever seen on this type of gear.
