What is Pollutec?

Pollutec is an international exhibition that takes place every two years at the Eurexpo in Lyon. The key words of this exhibition are innovation and environment.

It is two to three days during which exhibitors and professionals can meet and exchange on the latest innovations in their sector. It is also a series of conferences on the subject of sustainable development during which speakers and professionals identify solutions for the future. It is an exhibition that has grown in importance after each edition, the number of exhibitors increases each year and many business leaders and political figures come to it. This year, Pollutec is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

With many themes such as Sustainable City, the industry of the future, agriculture... construction machinery and the applications they can lead are at the heart of the debates. It is therefore not surprising that exhibitors such as manufacturers of construction machinery and machines were present.

The Liebherr stand with its machines and engine

The Liebherr brand presented its latest models as its T55-7 telescopic forklift truck, this model, launched at the end of 2017, is optimized for stacking and lifting. It can reach speeds of up to 40 km/h. To improve safety on sloping terrain, the parking brake is automatically activated. This telescopic forklift model also features a hydraulic load-sensing pump with an oil flow rate of 160 litres per minute. With the possibility of course to distribute the flow for more flexibility and productivity.

Another reliable and high-performance machine from Liebherr is the L 546 wheel loader, equipped with a 120kw/163hp diesel engine and a hydrostatic transmission with a consumption reduced by a quarter compared to other loaders in the same category. In addition, the construction machine is equipped with a high spill bucket

Liebherr also presented a 6-cylinder diesel engine  with an SCR (exhaust gas aftertreatment) filter system. This engine has an optimized combustion process that generates very few particles collected by the SCR filter. All parts of this Liebherr engine are developed in-house (injection system, engine control...)

Volvo was also very present

The Volvo Group also exhibited its innovations with an environmental impact and its latest construction machinery.

With Volvo Penta (suppliers of engines for marine and industrial applications), which presented its D11 engine complying with the Stage V standard (a standard taking into account the number and level of particles emitted by the engines, it makes the particulate filter essential).

Volvo Construction Equipment presented two of its machines, the EW240E MH (material handler) excavator, which is more energy efficient. This versatile and reliable excavator is dedicated to material handling as evidenced by the hydraulic cab elevation and its long 6.5-metre monoblock boom. But also the L90H2 loader dedicated to waste application with its four solid tires, a turbo engine 2 air pre-filter and a reversible fan to avoid sucking dust protecting the operator in the cab.

And then Volvo Trucks introduced a powertrain and battery for the electric FE.

Other exhibitors of TP brands

There were also exhibitors such as Bomag France, a brand known for its compactors. With the presence of Bergerat Monnoyeur and his Cat machines for professionals in recycling centres. Komatsu France presented its wheel loaders designed for industrial and recycling applications.

Conferences on new environmental issues related to construction sites and industries

In addition to promoting the latest innovations, Pollutec allows speakers and other major environmental stakeholders to raise awareness and find solutions for the future and thus reduce the environmental impact. For example, with conferences on how to better collect and manage waste, whether industrial or related to building activities. Pollutec also provides an opportunity to discuss the energy transition and new fuels such as biomethane.

Pollutec, has become an essential exhibition for the world of civil engineering because it allows to be on the lookout for the latest machine innovations and how to work in a more responsible way.
